Nearing a Finish from ... Cat Patches

Good morning, my friends. It's still dark outside as I write this, and so I can't tell what the weather is going to be like today. The forecast calls for rain, but the weatherman continues to insist that we'll get three warmer drier days starting tomorrow. Fingers crossed because I really want to get outside and do some weeding.

After writing yesterday's post, I stitched the Tiny Heart for Day 20 of our stitch-along. This one has chain stitch, straight stitch, and cross stitch.

The bird feeders were empty and so I went outside with the ...

Far Flung Flannel from ... Cat Patches

Good morning, my friends. There was a little of everything going on here yesterday. The treadmill got a workout, as did the vacuum and dust cloth. We worked fast so we could get back to our sewing. But no morning can get started without a little slow stitching. I stitched up Day 4's Tiny Heart. This one was easy.

Already, I've peeked at this morning's heart. It's a little more complicated. None of the dreaded stitches have shown up yet. (I'm looking at you, Cast-on Stitch and Bullion Stitch.)

With that finished, I took the ...

2023: The Year in Review from ... Cat Patches

Good morning, my friends. The day has come to say good-bye to 2023, and ready ourselves for what is to come in 2024. It's only turning a page on a calendar, but somehow New Year's Day seems filled with anticipation. We're looking forward to heading out on a trip in just a few weeks, and new carpeting in just two weeks. So there are some immediate changes happening here that make the new year seem kind of exciting...as exciting as it can be when you're anticipating becoming a septuagenarian in just a few months.

Working Cats from ... Cat Patches

Good morning, my friends. It was a mostly sewing day yesterday. My projects are moving along. I've practically worn myself out trying to decide how to finish my art quilt. With the help of my sewing cat, I was able to settle on a design yesterday. So let's just get to it, shall we?

After writing yesterday's post, I spent about an hour of my morning pulling fabrics and trying to decide on a background design for my art quilt. I hemmed and hawed, and hawed and hemmed, and sniffled and snuffled. Sadly, I used a lot ...

Busy Day from ... Cat Patches

Good morning, my friends. It was a full day here at the Three Cats Ranch. No time was wasted, and it was all well spent. I finished the stitching in my hoop, and then moved to the lower position to capture the rest of it.

I'll probably finish this one up in a couple of days. Sadly, the floss I'm waiting for to start the next "short" project won't arrive until Friday. If it doesn't come soon enough, I can always spend some time stitching the book spines I had ready to go for our canceled ...

Cat Clowns from ... Cat Patches

Good morning, my friends. I'm happy to say I've finished the main subject of my art quilt. The collage quilts are challenging. Even though I've done many, I always start out not really sure I can get it done. This one worked out better than expected. I'm still thinking about what to do with the background, but the most challenging part is finished.

When I finished yesterday's blog post, I went back downstairs for breakfast. When I looked back up the stairs, Smitty was wondering why we don't get on with the quilting.

Pawssibly ...

More Quilt Blocks from ... Cat Patches

Good morning, my friends. Well, it was a surprisingly nice day yesterday. Fall has clearly arrived in our part of the world. We were expecting an "atmospheric river," a term that I love. Despite the forecast, the sun came out early, and it didn't rain the rest of the day. It gave me a chance to fill the bird feeders, and it gave Sadie a chance to show the world how beautifully the fall colors coordinate with her fur coat.

But there was no time for soaking up admiration. There was serious sewing to be done. We were getting ...

Suddenly September from ... Cat Patches

Good morning, my friends. I don't know about you guys, but I'm pretty happy to have reached the month when Fall starts. We've had a good summer here with just a few hot days. We've been delighted by a nice soaking rain from yesterday. It rained most of the day, and by the time we went to bed, we had a half-inch accumulation. Many of you have suffered through brutal heat, and so I feel fairly certain you're going to be happy to see the end of summer. And for those of you in the ...

Easy-Going Day from ... Cat Patches

Good morning, my friends. Our air quality was much improved yesterday, but it appears more hazy again today. Oh well. Things could be so much worse, and so we're not complaining. When I came upstairs to write this post, I found Smitty taking up prime quilt real estate on Mike's lap.

That was okay with Sadie. She purrfurs her studio apartment on the catio.

Smitty is feeling better every day. He's not sneezing as much as he was, and his breathing sounds less congested. Yesterday, he used the poppy foliage to scratch his sniffly nose.

He's ...

Another Warm One from ... Cat Patches

Good morning, my friends. We're expecting another hot day today, but then cooling fairly quickly overnight. I'll be happy to turn off the A/C, if we can. I was out early yesterday to water the flower pots and harvest vegetables. While I was out, I found Sadie sleeping in the house on her catio.

Back inside, I went to work on my slow stitching. I finished off the next "book spine" for the Shop Hop quilt

And then I took the first stitches on the Chat to Friends block for The Story of My Day. These are ...
